Mel and I took the dogs for a walk earlier today. We were on my street, about two blocks from the house, walking past a house where two men and a woman were standing on the front lawn talking. Noticing Thilde, the woman said “I have a cat bigger than that… what is it?” As soon as she spoke, I knew it was her. I walked over and we gave each other the obligatory ‘nice to see you’ hug.
Cindy introduced me to her friends, one of them was the homeowner. She was there to see about doing a landscaping job for him. I introduced Mel who was still standing 10 feet away. She said, “You live around here now don’t you?” I told them my house was two blocks away on the corner. Her friend, my neighbor, knew immediately which house it was and complimented me on the improvements we’ve made to the hedges. I credited Mel. After another minute of chatting, I moved towards Mel to leave. Cindy said “Well, now that I know where you are, I’ll stop by sometime.” I responded with a fairly sincere “Yeah, do that.” Everybody said goodbye and we continued our walk.
I wouldn’t have told her not to come by in front of her friends. It’s not in me to be rude like that. I have no doubt she’ll come over, at some point. I am curious about how she’s getting on. I’m just not sure I’ll be able to be friends with her again, or if I’ll want to. We’ll see. At any rate, I was bound to run into her sooner or later.
I hope if she does stop by, you can catch up and then cut the strings. Otherwise, follow the advice given to JadedJu.
I would use this approach if she pops in:<br>"Have you heard the Word of the Lord today?"<br>
Oh, the advice given to me will definitely work in any social situation. On the other hand, I’m also a big fan of pretending to have lost all long term memory. So she shows up at your door and you just look at her quizzically–like, "may I help you? Are you here selling vacuums?"<br><br>Based on that old post, I say that even being curious about her could be dangerous to your mental health.
you have no idea who i am… i am an evesdropper… got your link off techfluid… but jeezzzz louise… hate it when that happens………
